Vogue’s Anna Wintour Irked by Clinton’s Photo Shoot Cancellation

January 22nd, 2008

Hilary Clinton was supposed to appear in Vogue way back in November, but cancelled at the last minute for fear of appearing too feminine.  Anna Wintour, Vogue’s editor, didn’t let it slide by without note.  In her February editor’s letter, she accuses Clinton of being behind the times.  Wintour writes, “The notion that a contemporary woman must look mannish in order to be taken seriously as a seeker of power is frankly dismaying.”  Senator Clinton and her family have been featured in Vogue six times since 1992 and despite this incident, Vogue says they hope to work with her again soon.  Women’s Wear Daily (01/18/08).
