The July issue of Italian Vogue will feature only black models and is photographed entirely by world renowned photographer Steven Meisel. In this reversal of the normal pattern of fashion magazines, the models are all black and the topics all relate to black women in the arts and entertainment. NY Times (June 19, 2008)

Essence saw its advertising revenue jump by more than 19%.  Carlos Pelay, president of advertising research company the Media Economics Group, which tracks advertising spending in black-targed magazines, said that growth in the category has slowed, but is still healthy.  Folio:  (Nov. 16, 2007)
