Robert Kennedy Has Done a Lot of Heavy Lifting in Publishing Business
January 29th, 2009
Robert Kennedy (standing in photo) laid out the first issue of MuscleMag in 1974 on his kitchen table and only began to find distribution for it when the 110, 000 copies arrived at his doorstep. That first issue proved the viability of the now iconic bodybuilding magazine, but it would take some 15 years of struggle to approach profitability. Kennedy’s storied career has included forays into retail, a long and productive relationship with the current “Governator” of California, and the addition of successful new magazines like Oxygen and Clean Eating.
