Earlier this month, Source Interlink Companies, Inc., in a memo, announced that Meijer grocery stores, during May and June, will be relocating the magazine and book departments to the front of more than 50 stores. The following describes the planned changes.

Just wanted to keep you abreast of the latest at Meijer! As you all know, there are not many retailers and buyers that support the magazine category like Meijer and Gerry Wilding. Recently Meijer has made the commitment to move the Magazine and Book departments to the FRONT OF THE STORE in over 50 stores. This location (Front corner GM side) moves our mainline from the back of the store in many cases where the foot traffic is roughly 15% to the front of the store where the foot traffic is roughly 85%.

These moves will be taking place throughout May and June and will be accompanied by new fixtures for both books and magazines, thus creating a true destination point in the store for our category.

Attached is the store list of locations where this move is being made. We all know Meijer is a champion for our category and it is commitments like this that prove it! Please share this information with your publishers as they stand to gain from this commitment as well.
