Newsweek Gets a Makeover

February 9th, 2009

With changing times and the rough economy you can call it the Extreme Makeover of magazines. Newsweek’s Editor Jon Meacham said “If we don’t have something original to say, we won’t. The drill of chasing the week’s news to add a couple of hard-fought new details is not sustainable.” Newsweek is finally doing something about this.

The introduction of a new design, smaller format, heavier paper are all part of the plan to revamp Newsweek. Shifts in content, targeting to an affluent readership, lower costs for printing, distribution and marketing are also among the many things that will be changing. New York Times (Feb. 8, 2009)
