National Enquirer Surges on Edwards Affair Scoop

The National Enquirer’s Aug. 11 issue — with the headline “Edwards $15,000 a month payoff to mistress” — sold 738,000 single copies, well above the title’s first-half, weekly average of 665,419 newsstand copies. The website, moreover, has seen a tenfold increase in monthly traffic.
