The lasting impact of Hurricane Ike is quickly dwindling; however, some mail, newsstand and newspaper delays are still expected as several embargoes are projected to remain in heavily impacted areas until Tuesday. For the most part, distribution to and from southeast Texas has been restored, but there are still areas where travel is forbidden and areas still under curfew making some pickups and deliveries impossible.Quebecor World Logistics is doing everything possible to responsibly navigate these areas in order to limit potential delays.

USPS Update:

Post Offices throughout the greater Houston area continued recovery efforts today despite power outages, with all Post Offices in the city of Houston operational and providing limited retail and delivery service, including Oak Forest Station (77018, 77092), where building repairs were completed September 17.
Post Office Box service for customers served by the Crystal Beach (77650), High Island (77623) and Port Bolivar Post Offices has relocated to the Winnie Post Office at 3234 Highway 124 in Winnie.
Mail for Post Office Box customer served by the Gilchrist Post Office (77617) has relocated to the Stowell Post Office at 3608 State Highway 124 in Stowell.
Post Office Box service for Wallisville (77597) Post Office customers has been relocated to the Mont Belvieu Post Office at 16043 Eagle Drive in Mont Belvieu.
Mail delivery and limited retail service has resumed onsite at the Orange (77630) and Texas City (77590, 77591) post offices, and portable trailers are being prepared to house operations at both sites while building repairs are completed.
The Seabrook (77586) Post Office has resumed mail delivery and will reoccupy the building on September 19.
In Beaumont, mail for Post Office Box customers served by the Downtown branch office (77704) is available at the Beaumont Main Post Office at 5815 Walden Road.
If customers have permanently relocated or will be at a temporary location for an extended time, the Postal Service will forward your mail to the new address if you submit a change of address form. Customers may file a Change of Address (COA) on line at usps.com, at the nearest Post Office or by calling 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777). COA cards will be made available to all shelters.
