Hurricane Gustav Causes Minor Delays, But Hanna and Ike Loom
QWL Newsflash #226 follows in its entirety. Hurricane Gustav Hits, Causes Minimal Delays; Hanna, Ike Loom / September 2, 2008
Hurricane Gustav reached southeastern Louisiana Monday morning forcing evacuations and shipping yard closures, making delivery to and from the affected region extremely difficult. Mail, newsstand and newspaper delivery routed through the affected area (LA, TX, AR, MS) may experience slight delays as terminals begin to reopen and evaluate damages. The storm has since been downgraded to a tropical depression moving its way into northwest Louisiana, threatening significant rain over the Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana. Further delays are possible over the next couple of days as flash flooding becomes a concern. Quebecor World Logistics will continue to proactively contact the few customers that may experience lasting delays due to the effects of Gustav. An additional hurricane and several tropical storms have developed and are progressing slowly towards the United States. At the front of this grouping is Hurricane Hanna currently approaching the Bahamas. Quebecor World Logistics will continue to monitor these storms and update you on any potential delays due to their impact.
