Hipsters: They Have a Lot of Explaining to Do…

Maybe you know one or were one or — just maybe — you are one.  Well, Adbusters lays an awful lot at the doorstep of the poor, put-upon Hipster.  Here is how they open their cover package of their September/October issue:

“We’ve reached a point in our civilization where counterculture has mutated in to a self-obsessed aesthetic vacuum.  So while hipsterism is the end product of all prior countercultures, it’s been stripped of its subversion and originality, and is leaving a generation pointlessly obsessing over fashion, faux individuality, cultural capital and the commodities of style.”
