Get Ready for Bonnie Fuller Media

June 30th, 2008

Investor and former Viacom exec Russ Pillar says his company, the 5850 Group, is working to raise capital for Bonnie Fuller Media, which will offer mostly digital, female-oriented media on topics like gossip, fashion and romance, under the direction of renowned editor Bonnie Fuller. “It’s going to be media by, for and about women,” Ms. Fuller says. “I’d really like to take advantage of all different forms of media including Web, mobile, blogging and discussion boards to communicate with women.” Since leaving her perch at American Media earlier this month, Fuller has been laying the groundwork for her new enterprise from a friend’s borrowed NYC office. Doubtless, much of the New York publishing business — which seems to revel in disliking Ms. Fuller — is happy to see her without a big, corporate home for the moment and hoping Bonnie Fuller Media doesn’t make it. But, they’re not saying so for attribution. The “queen-of-second-acts” editor has too long a track record of success for that. The NYT’s lengthy profile by David Carr touches on Ms. Fuller’s career moves and personal life. She appears with a copy of Us Weekly in 2002 at left. The New York Times (June 29, 2008)
