The December/January Special Double Issue of Field & Stream historically means more than double the editorial content. It also means double the sales of the average issue — and this winter’s version should prove no exception. If there is anything a sportsman likes to do half as much as getting up before dawn to hunt game, it must be reading about how to do it better. That means better equipment, up-to-date information and improved skills, which is exactly what Field & Stream provides in each issue. As an added bonus for those among us who spend mid-November mornings in tree stands trying to keep warm, you can read Field & Stream next to a fire or wood-burning stove, after a shower in the late afternoon, while sipping a glass of Kentucky bourbon or Tenessee whiskey. While Field & Stream’s edit undeniably appeals to sportsmen, much of it interests a broader audience. An article in the December/January issue on knife skills, for instance, demonstrates the opening of a beer bottle with a straight-edge knife. That’s service journalism!
