Essential New Website Aimed at Young Black Females
Warner Bros. Television Group and Time Inc.’s Essence Communications are working together to make Essence magazine a multiplatform brand. This summer’s re-launch of Essence.com will be the new duo’s first project. It will serve as a launching pad for new TV and Internet programming aimed at reaching 18-49 year-old, Black women. The re-launch stems from a number of complaints that African-American women need more content that better reflects their lifestyle. The new and improved website will feature a mix of exclusive and original daily content, more video, plus interactive social networking. Extra’s weekend co-anchor, Tanika Ray, will host Extra on Essence, an original digital series for the website. Extra will also contribute to Essence magazine on a regular basis.
