Union Approves New Contract with Cowley Distributing

A strike by Cowley Distributing employees in the St. Louis area has been averted, and no disruptions to the magazine delivery network are expected.  The union approved a new contract last night.

Cowley Distributing is conducting negotiations with union representatives of its employees in the St Louis market, and a vote on a new contract is expected by tomorrow, October 9th.  The major sticking points concern health and welfare benefits, which Cowley is looking to reduce significantly as a cost-saving measure.

Source Interlink Distribution has informed its trading partners that it will begin requiring vendors to submit a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSI) Supplier Agreement for any unusual premiums packed along with magazines — that is, for premiums other than CD’s, DVD’s or paper products.  (A template of the form is available here.)
