ASME Elects New Members, Including New President
On April 30, David Willey took over as the American Society of Magazine Editors’ president. He succeeds ASME former president and Glamour editor Cindi Leive. She will remain on the board for two years as ex-officio president, a spot previously filled by Mark Whitaker. Willey, a senior vp of Rodale and editor of Runner’s World and editorial director of Running Times, is the first president of the organization to be based out of NYC in almost 10 years. Other two-year term additions to ASME include People managing editor Larry Hackett, Popular Mechanics editor Jim Meigs, and Ladies’ Home Journal editor Diane Salvatore. ASME also reelected the following officers for their second 1-year terms: Elle editor Roberta Myers, New York editor Adam Moss, and Self editor Lucy Danziger. MediaWeek (April 30, 2008)
