As Oprah Gets Political, Will Her Businesses Pay a Price?

Oprah Winfrey reaches more than 8 million people every weekday on TV and more than 2.5 million readers a month in print.  She has earned the deep affection and respect of many of these people, for telling it like it is and by scrupulously avoiding financial gain from the books and other products she talks about.  But politics is a more complicated business, and “‘…stepping out of [her] pew…’” to endorse Illinois Senator Barack Obama for President carries certain business risks, according to the NYT’s David Carr.  The New York Times  (Dec. 24, 2007)
