Amazon.com Launches New Electronic Reader “Kindle” for Books, Magazines, Newspapers and Blogs

The device will cost $399, and will download content using the wireless service EVDO, which is offered by some cellular phone carriers. New editions and best-selling books will cost $9.99. Magazines subscriptions will cost between $1.25 and $3.49 a month, newspapers between $5.99 and $14.99. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos pitches the new service on the company’s homepage.
