ALDI Opens its 20th Maryland Store
July 9th, 2009
The self-described “select assortment discount grocer” takes an unusual approach — charging for bags and requiring deposits for grocery carts — but it succeeds at offering deep discounts without coupons. Based in Germany, ALDI operates some 1,000 U.S. stores. Their latest one in Maryland opens this weekend at 98 Chesapeake Blvd., in Elkton, on the south side of U.S. 40, just west of the Delaware line. The News Journal (Wilmington, DE) July 9, 2009
