Michael GillenMichael Gillen is Vice President, Client Services, with executive responsibility for all newsstand marketing and distribution efforts undertaken on behalf of the company’s associate clients. Working closely with CMG’s Associate Client Group Marketing Directors and Managers, Gillen supervises the production of title-specific marketing plans, comprehensive score-carding of past performance and long-term strategic planning.

A circulation veteran of 15 years, Gillen joined CMG in early 2003 after serving as Vice President, Retail Sales, for Weider Publications, where he managed more than $60 million in retail sales, and had responsibility for seven health and fitness titles. For Weider, he developed newsstand initiatives for all sales channels, established distribution guidelines, orchestrated retail initiatives and implemented a number of direct-to-retail distribution programs. From 1998 to 2001, Gillen served in a similar capacity for Rodale, Inc.

Earlier in his career, Gillen learned the nuts and bolts of the wholesale side of the business with TV Guide/Murdoch Magazines. Over the course of 8 years there, he rose to Vice President, Wholesaler Operations, and managed a field force of 100 full-time employees. Gillen holds a B.S. in Marketing from West Chester University. He makes his home in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
