Hugh ShannonHugh Shannon is Vice President, Sales, with responsibility for the marketing of all products distributed through the Anderson News Company and a number of smaller or “direct” distributors, whose operations are centered in the western states. He has spearheaded CMG’s efforts to upgrade and codify services provided at the point of sale by overseeing the roll-out of the IMPACT Program, along with Rob Brassell. He has also managed effective responses to challenges to the magazine distribution network, including the grocery strike in southern California and the hurricanes that affected the southeastern states in 2004 and 2005.

Shannon came to CMG from Distribution Services, Inc. (DSI), a division of American Media, where he has spent the bulk of his 30-year career. For 15 years through 1995, Shannon was Vice President of Sales for DSI. His responsibilities encompassed both retail marketing at the chain level and wholesale distribution of DSI’s product line. Recently, he served as Vice President of Publisher Sales for MYCO Display, an Illinois-based provider of custom magazine fixtures to the retail community. Early in his career, Shannon held a number of increasingly responsible positions in DSI’s field force in the southeastern United States.

Shannon was educated at the University of New Orleans, and currently makes his home in Knoxville, Tennessee.
