How do I create a Zip file?

The purpose for zipping a file is to reduce the file size of a document, it can also package the entire contents of a folder into one location. You can also password protect a zip file. To zip a file you will need to go to the location of the file or folder. Once there you will need to right click on the file or folder, select WinZip and select Add to Zip File.

Two windows will appear, click on Add. You can also password protect the file, which will be discussed later.

The second window remains open showing that the zip file has been created. You can just close that window by clicking on Red X at the top right of the window.

This will create the zip file in the same location as the file you are zipping. The zipped file shows as the following:

How do I Password Protect a Zip file?

This is fairly much the same process as creating an ordinary zip file. To zip a file you will need to go to the location of the file or folder. Once there you will need to right click on the file or folder, select WinZip and select Add to Zip File.

Two windows will appear. On the one window you have the Password button. If you want the file password protected you need to click on this button.

The box will appear where you will need to type in a password. The type will be hidden (it will show as asteriks when you type it in). If you wish to see the password the way you are typing it click on the box to the left of Mask password to make the check box disappear, then type your password. Once you type it in click on OK.

A second box will appear. You will need to reenter the password to verify the password. Once done click OK.

Once done click on Add button.

The second window remains open showing that the zip file has been created. The plus sign next to the file name indicates that the file is password protected. You can just close that window by clicking on Red X at the top right of the window.

This will create the zip file in the same location as the file you are zipping. The zipped file shows as the following:
