How do I know if VPN is down?

If your notes is not replicating or if VPN is not connecting the first thing to check is to make sure you are online. If you are not online you can not get email nor can you connect to VPN. You need to connect to internet prior to attempting those programs. Once you are online, open VPN. The VPN icon can be found on the right hand side of your start bar, near the time. It looks like a key and lock. If that icon is not there go to Start => All Programs => Check Point VPN-1 Secure Client => Secure Client. Click on Secure Client. This will make icon appear in right hand corner

Right click on the VPN icon and select Connect.

A window will appear for VPN Secure Client to log in. Make sure your user name is correct in the user name area and type in your password in the space provided for your password and click on Connect.

A window will show giving details on your connection. It will tell you if you are connected or if it fails. Should you be on a wireless network at a hotel, there may be another reason the VPN is not connecting.
