Source Interlink Distribution (SID) has appointed Stephanie Laco, Vice President, Publisher Services, putting her in charge of the Publisher Services Department, which serves as Source’s main point of contact with national distributors for operational issues.

A strike by Cowley Distributing employees in the St. Louis area has been averted, and no disruptions to the magazine delivery network are expected. The union approved a new contract last night.
Cowley Distributing is conducting negotiations with union representatives of its employees in the St Louis market, and a vote on a new contract is expected by tomorrow, October 9th. The major sticking points concern health and welfare benefits, which Cowley is looking to reduce significantly as a cost-saving measure.

Source Interlink Distribution has informed its trading partners that it will begin requiring vendors to submit a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSI) Supplier Agreement for any unusual premiums packed along with magazines — that is, for premiums other than CD’s, DVD’s or paper products.
